Directions from the M6 Motorway (about 45 minutes) :
Leave at Junction 36 (Kendal) and follow the Kendal By-Pass to pick up the A591 to Ambleside.
After the sign for Ambleside , turn left at traffic lights at Waterhead and follow the signs for Coniston and the A593.
Alternatively, leave at Junction 36 and follow the A591 & A590 to Greenodd via Newby Bridge.
From Greenodd, take the A5092 to Lowick and then the A5084 to Torver. From Torver take the A593 to Coniston.
From Coniston:
In the centre of Coniston take the B5285 to Hawkshead that passes in front of the Church
As you leave the last of the houses, the road goes over a small humpbacked bridge before passing between fields to Waterhead ( about half a mile)
Look out for the Waterhead Hotel on the right
50 yards further on look left for our lane and sign
Thwaite Cottage is the white house you can see straight ahead of you.
